About
The Miller Group has called Amelia Island home for many years. Our story began in 1974, when David F Miller Sr laid the foundation for our Amelia Island real estate legacy.
At that time, he was President of JCPenney and had heard about Amelia Island from his aunt who was a writer for the Florida Times Union. One day, on the way to the Jacksonville airport, he asked his son (David F Miller Jr) to drop him off at the waffle house located just off I-95. He told his son to pick him up on the south end of the island, at the Plantation sales trailer (no buildings had been developed yet on the Plantation). About an hour later, David F Miller Jr found his way to the sales trailer, only to find his father had hitchhiked his way to the location and was now the proud owner of 5 Plantation condos, none of which had even been built.
Thus began the Miller's real estate legacy. Not long after, Dave Sr and Dave Jr would buy, sell, and operate many real estate holdings and businesses. They purchased and operated an ice manufacturing and distribution plant in Jacksonville. They purchased commercial buildings in downtown Fernandina Beach, opened a retail clothing store, and even started Fernandina's first smoothie and juice bar. They developed and operated self-storage facilities, and developed residential neighborhoods on and off Amelia Island.
Real estate has been in the Miller blood for a long time. James Miller, David F Miller Jr's son, grew up listening to stories about real estate sales and visiting site plans, construction projects, and traversing swamp covered acres for potential development sites. It was only a matter of time before he joined the Miller Group real estate team. But before he did, he worked for JCPenney as a sales manager, operations manager, and HR leader to develop his sales and leadership skills. After 6 successful years with the company, it was time for James to move back to Amelia Island and join the Miller Group.
James got his license in 2015 and helped his father sell the remaining 20 homes of the Marshes of Lanceford community. Together, they created the best real estate team on Amelia Island. Their unique experience of sales, marketing, operations, leadership, and development make them like nobody else with a real estate license. They specialize on the Amelia Island Plantation but service all areas of Nassau County.
